About the University 🏫

The University of the South Pacific (USP) has the main campus in the capital Suva, located on the southeastern coast of Fiji's largest island.

USP offers subjects in fields such as art, law, educational science, business, finance, economics, communications, engineering, technology, environment and is especially known and respected for their teaching and research in marine biology. The University of the South Pacific Fiji houses 11,000 students on the main campus and many of them are international students, providing the perfect conditions to expand your network and make friends from around the world.

Laucala Campus, the main campus, is just a 10-minute bus ride from downtown, where you can enjoy the many shops, cafés, restaurants, open markets and outdoor activities.

About the city 🌇

The beautiful Pacific islands has everything to offer for the adventurous souls. There are beautiful beaches with the cleanest water and sand, sensational sunsets and an exciting ancient history. Fiji offers a combination of biodiversity, history and modern influence that makes the island a natural playground with its crystal clear waters, where the sun reflects down on world-class beaches.

Despite western notion of Fiji as the ultimate tourist destination, Fiji's culture is truly amazing. For those who take the step further than just being a tourist in Fiji, you get the opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional culture that influences the unique Juxta position of the local Pacific traditions as well as from the influence of the Indian subcontinent.

Suva, the capital, is located on the island of Viti Levu in Rewa province, Centra Division. Suva is a port city and thus known as the center of the island's political, administrative and commercial hub. Suva houses countless music events, international restaurants and sports facilities.

The many festivals are especially popular for young people and students who can enjoy live music in tropical surroundings. In addition to culture enrichment outside of the studies, you have the dream circumstances to make use of the beautiful beaches associated with swimming, surfing, snorkeling and diving.

On-Campus

The Waqavuka Flats, is the name of the university's own homes on campus in Fiji. The home is furnished for private bed with shared facilities. The homes are equipped with air conditioning for the tropical weather and have 24/7 security.

Off-Campus accommodation

Students who wish to stay off campus are advised to contact the university's dedicated staff who will help find accommodation for international students. Around the Laucala campus in Fiji, there are available apartments which are frequently rented out to international students. The rent on these depends on whether they are semi or fully furnished and equipped. USP has compiled a database of off-campus student housing.

Homestay

International students at USP also have the option of staying with a host family in Suva, Fiji. Each family has its own way of doing things and living everyday life, and it's the perfect way to gain insight into local culture.
